We’re excited to kick off Teammate Nationals with a very special P.E.P. (Parents Empowering Parents) Talk, hosted by Dr. Zanthia Reddish and Coach Bob Reddish – proud parents of former Duke Blue Devil and 1st Round Draft Pick for the Atlanta Hawks, Cam Reddish!

They’re offering a dynamic 60-minute Parent Workshop and Q&A Session that is one-of-a-kind. Sharing their unique story of parenting experiences and now experiences as parents of a major professional athlete, they’ll provide college recruitment and academic preparedness information that will empower parents to support student athletes on their journey to the next level.

Strategically scheduled at the beginning of the tournament, Dr. Zanthia and Coach Bob will establish behavioral expectations for everyone involved and set the stage for an incredible national championship experience!

The tournament is open to all boys and girls travel basketball teams. The tournament is grade-based and will feature divisions from 2nd grade to 11th/12th grade. We host tournaments throughout the regular season that will “automatically qualify” your team for the national championship. While it’s not a requirement to participate in a qualifier in order to play at nationals, playing in a qualifier does guarantee a spot for your team at nationals. The championship does fill up every year, so participating in a qualifying event is a great way to make sure your team is locked in for nationals.

ALL teams will go through our team check-in process before taking the court at nationals. All participants will need to provide proof of age and proof of grade in order to be eligible to play. The easiest and most convenient way to check in your athletes is to obtain a National Sports ID for all players on your roster. Players who do not have proof of age and grade will not be permitted to sit on the bench with your team. There are no exceptions to this policy.

National Sports ID is an online service that verifies the age/grade of youth athletes by providing Sports ID cards. Advantages to this service include: helping Teammate Basketball protect the integrity of our event, avoid carrying around your athlete’s sensitive personal information, avoid waiting in long team check-in lines, be automatically notified if you have a player on your roster that does not meet the event’s eligibility criteria, National Sports ID rosters can be used at 100’s of events nationwide, & more! CLICK HERE to get started!

All teams will need to check in on Wednesday, June 23 (2021). Check in times and location specifics will be determined soon.

Practice times will depend on how many teams register to participate, if extra court time exists at the Virginia Beach Sports Center, we will open that time up for practice.

Teams will be randomly grouped in pools of four. After playing everyone in your pool, the pool standings will determine which bracket (Gold, Silver, Bronze) your team ends up in for the elimination portion of the tournament. Typically, the top two teams go to the Gold Bracket, 3rd place goes to Silver Bracket, and 4th place goes to Bronze Bracket. The number of teams in your grade division will determine how many brackets your division will have. All teams are guaranteed to play a minimum of four games.

Each team will receive two complimentary coaches passes per team at Teammate Nationals. No scorekeeper passes will be given, as tournament staff will keep the official scorebook at the scorer’s tables.
