The tournament is open to all boys and girls travel basketball teams. The tournament is grade-based and will feature divisions from 2nd grade to 11th/12th grade. We host tournaments throughout the regular season that will “automatically qualify” your team for the national championship. While it’s not a requirement to participate in a qualifier in order to play at nationals, playing in a qualifier does guarantee a spot for your team at nationals. The championship does fill up every year, so participating in a qualifying event is a great way to make sure your team is locked in for nationals.
ALL teams will go through our team check-in process before taking the court at nationals. All participants will need to provide proof of age and proof of grade in order to be eligible to play. The easiest and most convenient way to check in your athletes is to obtain a PlayerKey ID for all players on your roster. Players who do not have proof of age and grade will not be permitted to sit on the bench with your team. There are no exceptions to this policy.
Player Key ID is an online service that verifies the age/grade of youth athletes by providing Sports ID cards. Advantages to this service include: helping Teammate Basketball protect the integrity of our event, avoid carrying around your athlete’s sensitive personal information, avoid waiting in long team check-in lines, be automatically notified if you have a player on your roster that does not meet the event’s eligibility criteria, Player Key rosters can be used at 100’s of events nationwide, & more! CLICK HERE to get started!
Team Check-In information will be available soon.
Practice times will depend on how many teams register to participate, if extra court time exists at the Rock Hill Sports Center, or one of our off-site courts, we will open that time up for practice.
Teams will be randomly grouped in pools of four. After playing everyone in your pool, the pool standings will determine which bracket (Gold, Silver, Bronze) your team ends up in for the elimination portion of the tournament. Typically, the top two teams go to the Gold Bracket, 3rd place goes to Silver Bracket, and 4th place goes to Bronze Bracket. The number of teams in your grade division will determine how many brackets your division will have. All teams are guaranteed to play a minimum of four games.
